Bezzera Strega TOP V2 Espresso Machine

There are times when one wants the best espresso extraction without hesitating to what is involved to install a quality espresso machine and without hesitating to learn the skills needed to make it happen. Well, after setting up this machine, using the appropriate commercial grade grinder, and refining our skills, you, like we did, may see every other espresso machine as inadequate!

For this reason the flavor profiles offered by the Bezzera Strega line are extraordinary!

We, at 1st-line, do sell coffee beans that we do not personally like, but our customers very much love. After experimenting with many different blends of coffee, we were amazed in the quality of the cup on the beans we normally do not like! This spoke volumes about the Bezzera Strega.

The only downside was the lever requires some muscle! The lever is pushed down against a spring until the lever locks into position. After locking and after the bottom rim of the demitasse cup is covered with espresso, the lever needs to be disengaged from the locked position, and the spring will push the lever up. If the grind is too coarse, the lever will come up too fast. If there is no coffee in the basket or the portafilter is missing, this lever will snap upwards. We warn you that the lever can cause personal injury to your face or eye socket. BE CAREFUL NOT TO PLACE YOUR FACE IN FRONT OF THE LEVER AT ANY TIME!

  • Double water supply / switchable: This machine can be operated with the tank/reservoir only or it can be plumbed directly to the water line. Our suggestion on initial usage, to avoid heating element damage, is to first operate the unit as a tank model.
  • Vibration pump: Activated to refill boiler or when lever is brought into down, locked position for pre-infusion.
  • Pressurstat: Monitor boiler’s steam pressure.
  • Grouphead: Heated by a separate heating element to keep the temperature more stable.
  • Stability: There are weights placed in the lower rear of the machine’s interior to keep it more stable while pulling it down on the lever.
  • Hot water wand: Located on the right side. Multi-directional. Activated using joystick control.
  • Steam wand: Located on the left side. Multi-directional and utilizes non-compression valve with a joystick control.
  • Boiler pressure gauge: Indicates steam pressure in boiler.
  • Drip tray: Made of stainless steel. Removable for manual cleaning. Optional drip tray to drain is available (order parts #12 through #17 in direct connect diagram).
  • Accessories included: Single spout portafilter, double spout portafilter, 1-cup filter basket, 2-cup filter basket, handle for lever, stainless steel braided hose, grouphead cleaning brush, plastic tamper, and plastic measuring scoop.

First-off, kudos to Jim & Diane & crew! This is my 2nd Bezzera from 1st-Line, (1st was the BZ07 DE) & the service is great! Jim walked me through startup and testing the Strega without hesitation, and man! This thing does pull a memorable shot! My in-house espresso blends have taken-on a whole new shine! Steam is phenomenal, the pump is quiet, and For what you get out the spout(s) it’s not really that much more work than a standard HX. I downed my first 4 shots straight off the draw, during dial-in, & even the off-shots were good! I’m hooked. If you desire the best, here it is. And a great bunch of people, too. Thanks guys!

This spring loaded lever machine with a pump to fill up the piston chamber is the best of both worlds. It pulls the best shots I’ve had from any espresso machine and the pump gives great versatility for pre-infusion pressure. Once pre-infused, the spring determines the extraction pressure profile and its gently declining pressure produces fantastic straight shots. For milk drink lovers, it steams like a freight train, and you can create velvety micro-bubble cappuccino in less than 10 seconds. The heated group helps to ensure consistency shot to shot, and a quick warm-up time.

Almost one year and +500 shots later it is the best! Use daily in my office. Have super automatic for 5 years at home and now really love going to work. Love Bezzera so much that I will be buying another to replace my super automatic at home. BTW, I’m also a trained Barista, so this is a strong recommendation, best machine, if you’re willing to put the time in to run it.

This machine is a dream come true. It makes the task of brewing espresso very easy. Frothing milk has never been easier. Perfectly suited for home use, it reaches operating temperature quickly and the vibe pump is the quietest I have heard. I plumbed the drain and that makes my life a lot easier. 1st line has the kit to do so. Overall, I am extremely satisfied I switched from a commercial semi-automatic to the Strega. Finally, two remarks: – Be careful with the lever – It can be a bit messy when flushing the HX or running water trough the group Both are minor annoyances to live with when you have such a great machine.

I have pulled multiple shots from this machine almost daily since 2015. Its now 2020 and I am still using it daily. Its been maintenance free, consistent and worth every penny I’ve spent on it. It still looks brand new and I have USED it a lot. The flavors it can make are just amazing. Every once and a while I will experiment with different beans. I can manually control the pour so that I can bring out mid flow flavors more than initial or variations on that theme etc. Its trial and error for sure, but I have made some rather meh beans shine with this machine. The lever IS dangerous. But only when you are new to the machine or extremely hungover. Ask me how- I know. I have stories from both instances. My 5 ft 95 lb girlfriend can use it up on a high counter top with ease. Its just operator error you have to watch out for. I would buy another if this one ever dies. Until then Im happy as happy can be and have a feeling I will get another 5 years out of ‘er no worries. If you can find it in stock grab one! You won’t regret it.
