V3 in September 2020 – New LCC Display called Software505

  • The coffee boiler temperature goes up to 110 degrees C (230 degrees F).
  • Economy mode: Allows users to disable the steam boiler at the push of the minus sign for 3 seconds. If the “E” lights up, then the machine is in Economy Mode.
  • Reserve mode: Active if the water stops coming out during an espresso shot. Users can finish performing the extraction WITHOUT wasting any espresso. The LCC display shows a tap icon next to the icon of the brewing time. Coffee comes out for the other 60 seconds. When the supply ends, the “lack of water” icon appears on the LCC display.
  • Extraction time – Users will see this on the LCC for 20 seconds at the end of the supply.
  • Steam temperature – Users can lower the temperature to 115 degrees C (239 degrees F) from 135 degrees C (275 degrees F) for low-pressure pre-infusion.

Additional V3 2020 Features New LCC Display called Software505

  • Real temperature – Push button “+.” The first one is the temperature of the coffee extraction. The second is the steam temperature.
  • Automatic purge – An automatic cooling flush that will let users have an ideal temperature for extraction. Users can turn the function on prior to the brewing phase by pressing Coffee Button 1 and Coffee Button 2 simultaneously. Then, the “drop” icon will show up. The function can go from 1 to 6 seconds. The set-up value is 5 seconds.
  • Coffee blooming 1 and 2 – Works in Phase 1 of pre-infusion (WITH the steam boiler on) by adding water from the tank to improve the temperature of the pre-infusion for the espresso extraction. Hit the minus sign and select “BLS1” (or “BLS2”) from the technical menu. The coffee blooming function can go from 1 to 10 seconds. The coffee blooming function turns on automatically when making a coffee with the pre-infusion preset.
  • Pump blooming 1 and 2 – Users can do pre-infusion WITHOUT the steam boiler on. Users can add water from the tank while using the pump power. Hit the minus sign and select “BLP1” (or “BLP2”) from the technical menu. The pump blooming function can go from 1 to 10 seconds. The pump blooming function turns on automatically when making a coffee with the steam boiler OFF and this function ON.

  • Steam boiler – 0.6 liter (600 ml) – Made of the quality stainless steel. A truly made boiler will outperform any thermoblock typically found on competitive models in the Lelit PL92T Elizabeth price class! 1000 watts.
  • Electricity alternates between boilers, unless the steam boiler is off.

Preinfusion

You can program a different pre-infusion time for each coffee button on the Lelit PL92T Elizabeth.

Pre-Infusion 1- Xx sec. (for button 1) / Pre-Infusion 2 -Xx sec. (for button 2)

When you press either coffee button, the 2-way & group solenoid valve will open for the pre-infusion time programmed. Furthermore, the 2-way solenoid valve hydraulically connects between the steam boiler and the coffee boiler. When it opens, it allows water to pass from the steam boiler in the coffee boiler. A water mixing occurs into the boiler, and the puck is gently pre-wet with a low pressure 3/4 bar max. During this process, the pump is OFF. Once the pre-infusion time is over, the pump will activate. Finally, the coffee brewing will start at full pressure.

  • Filter baskets – 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. Also, a 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 14 grams. Next, a blind filter basket which you use for backflushing. 58 mm in diameter.
  • Tamper – A cheap plastic tamper, common for most espresso machines to keep the overall selling price of machine low. However, we recommend upgrading to a better tamper.
  • Scoop – Simple plastic scoop if using preground coffee.
  • Water softener (resin filter) – Helps reduce limescale buildup in your machine. Highly recommended to replace the existing particle filter and install this water softener. You can find instructions in the Support tab above.
  • Instructional manual – Written in 7 different languages (English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Romanian, Russian). In addition, the instructions also work for the Lelit PL81T Grace.

I love the looks of this machine, especially the LCC. The coffee slide is beautiful, but personally, my favorite double shots come from the 1st. Line bottomless PF (a fantastic value, BTW) that I purchased along with the machine. Consistency of consecutive double shots isn’t perfect, but definitely better than my last machine, the single boiler Silvia. No ridiculous surfing and waiting between pulls any more. It’s a bit of a bummer that the pre-infusion is disabled when the steam boiler is turned off, but not a deal-breaker for me. Ottom line: the Elizabeth produces some seriously good espresso and is a joy to own. I’m interested in hearing what other owners are experiencing. Oh yeah, also 5 Stars for 1st Line sales and service. I will be recommending them to anyone I know who is looking for a new machine.

I tend to be one of those people that spends weeks researching a purchase like this, and this was no exception.

I don’t think there’s a machine out there that offers all the qualities and features of this machine, at this price range (this seems to apply to the rest of Lelit’s products as well.) but the trade off was that the user base in the US seems rather limited.

The value was good enough to take a chance, and given how the details of the construction were thought up, I doubted that I’d have any issues.

So far, it’s been a great machine, and a true upgrade from my completely modified Gaggia Classic.

The machine comes up to temperature rather quickly, and provides great steam power, all while allowing a much faster workflow. Consistency, I think is great. For me, it’s hard to tell because I’m still working on my skills to become consistent, but overall I’d HIGHLY recommend this machine to anyone looking for an upgrade from the lower tier machines.

After many weeks of research and going back and forth, I decided to pull the trigger on the Elizabeth. A few of my main factors were:

    1. Fast Heat up Times (I make my lattes in the mornings before I head to work)
    2. Volumetric Options (The ability to program a button so my wife can just press and forget it)
    3. Dual Boiler (Since I was upgrading from much inferior machine, I really wanted the ability to steam and pull a shot at the same time)
    4. Pre-infusion
    5. PID

The machine heats up pretty fast. The LLC will display the temperature as it goes up and will give you an OK once it has reached the set temp. The ability to play around with pre-infusion is amazing. I have mine set at 5 seconds and with an overall timer of 33 seconds for the whole shot. My shots come out really good, with a good amount of crema and pretty tasty.

Steaming – WOW! The steaming power is amazing. I typically do Lattes in the AM with about 5oz of milk and it takes less than 20 seconds to heat up and get really good micro foam. I am surprised at how good this machine is with steaming.

My overall impression is that this machine is definitely punching above its weight class. Very easy to use, wife friendly and most important its pulling good shots. For anyone taking a look at a Double Boiler – This is the perfect machine!

As my first espresso machine, I was going to order a Profitec 300 but came across the Lelit Elizabeth as a lower cost alternative that provided similar features. The warmup time is only 10-15 minutes, but I have it connected to a TP-Link KP100 smart plug (the machine’s power switch is always ON), which turns on when I wake up and off when I leave for work. If the Lelit bottomless portafilter is out of stock, and you want to use precision baskets, the Decent Espresso bottomless portafilter fits. In the morning I steam two 120ml quantities of milk, and the steam power is consistent; I’m sure it can handle much more. Setting preinfusion and total shot time is straightforward. Build quality seems fine, but the steam knob feels like cheap plastic. Overall, I think this unit will last me a long time, or until I upgrade to a pressure profiling machine. Would highly recommended at this price point.

  5. Lori (verified owner)

This is my first espresso machine, so perhaps I don’t have the adequate experience to thoroughly review the Elizabeth. That said, I’ve enjoyed using it in the six or so months I’ve owned it.

    Pros:
    – The warm up time is very short for the solid espresso shots I’m able to pull each time.
    – The LCC is convenient, and I love that it includes a cleaning cycle.
    – It has good steaming power, but you must be careful steaming after using preinfusion or the hot water wand.
    – The machine’s satin finish looks great and is much easier to keep clean than the more common chrome finish on most espresso machines.

    Cons:
    – The water reservoir is in an inconvenient location. I don’t keep it under my kitchen cabinets as a result.
    – The water in the hot water wand tastes stale for some reason.

  6. J. Keidel (verified owner)

This is my first espresso machine so I did a lot of research. All of the features the Elizabeth has can’t be beat for the price. I was looking for a machine that could fit under my kitchen cabinets so that also played into my decision.

    Pros:
    -Compact design
    -Warm up time
    -Double boiler
    -LCC
    -PID
    -Pre Infusion
    -Brushed finish

    Cons:
-A little noisy (vibration pump rattles tray screen). I installed a few clear bumpers between the tray and the screen to solve the issue.
-Stainless pull out tray is a little sharp on the back side.
-The water reservoir is in a inconvenient place but all machines are this way that aren’t direct plumbed. I just use a funnel when I fill it.

1st Line sales answered all of my questions that I had and provide excellent customer service. I even purchased a Lelit William grinder I was so happy with them.

  7. AlanG17543 (verified owner)

I have had a long line of home espresso machines. The last one was a La Nuova Era Cuadra with an E61 grouphead bought here a little over 7 years ago. I was very happy with it and had very little trouble with it. Its simplicity was its biggest asset and I liked the grouphead. When it began to seriously decline (the grouphead became worn and difficult to use) I started comparing various models here, in the $12-1500 price range maximum. I was leaning toward one of 3 E61 products, and this one. Java Jim recommended this unit.
I have it two weeks now and I can say that so far, I am very happy with it. It heats up more quickly than advertised. It is nice having a separate boiler for the steam – which is very powerful. I was hesitant to go with a machine that did not have an E61 grouphead. However, this pulls excellent shots. Skeptical of the programmable shot pulls, I have been impressed with the machines ability to pull the same shots consistently once you have it programmed where you want it, and have your grind dialed in accordingly and your tamp consistent. The three year warranty is a big plus. Overall, impressed so far and happy with my choice.

Last month, after many days of research and reading up on all my options at this price range, I purchased Lelit Elizabeth.
More than a 100 shots later, I am still enjoying it immensely.
Last time I purchased a brand new Espresso Machine was in 1984 in Florence Italy. It was (stil is) a La Pavoni Europiccola. I dragged it all over Europe and brought back to California.
Alas, it was time for something more convenient that the whole household can enjoy without having to summon the ‘Barista’

The options today are mind boggling, but, that last bit, user friendliness, was a key decision factor.

The Lelit Elizabeth user friendliness yet, available coffee nerd features, makes the perfect balance between every-day use and all out customizing shots to your heart’s content. Take it from someone who still operates a lever La Pavoii 36 years later and drives a stick shift. 🙂

It warms up in less than 10 minutes.
My morning routine: Turn the machine on, get in shower, come out in ten minutes and it is ready to use.
Flush brew head for 2 seconds with any of the two programmable buttons. Grind, tamp, insert portafilter, push a pre-programmed button and 30 seconds later (+6 seconds pre-infusion) and voila! A perfect Double espresso.
You can monitor the pressure via the gage, watch the shot timer and adjust your grind for the next shot if needed.
After a while, it all falls into place, I stopped weighing the shots, beans etc. Just one perfect harmonious routine, man and machine.

Program button 1 and button 2 for different pre-infusion and shot time and you have it easy for wife/husband preferences or Decaff/Caff. Or, keep one button’s timer off and it will keep pumping until you push the button again to stop it. I do that for one of the buttons so I can brew a Long Espresso, or experiment with a new roast timing.

The Espressos coming out, needless to say, are superd. The crema comes out perfect every time. The machine just reflects the beans natural aroma and flavours without a heavy hand.
Of course, a lot depends on the beans the roast, the age of roast etc, but all things being equal, the Elizabeth is a work-horse.

One nit-pick if Lelit is reading this. The manual (yes, I read manuals), refers to the On/OFF Switch as Button 1 and the Coffee PreSet switches as #2 and #3 even though the machine itself, has the number 1 next to Preset 1 and the number 2 next to Prest 2 (correctly). Not a big deal but also threw me off on first turning on and when I went to do a backflush. FIx the manual.

It is also very easy to clean, easy to fill, I just pull the pull-out hose from my sink to the reservoir and fill it up.
The Steam is very powerful, 20 seconds and I have a perfect Cortado foam while the shot is being pumped at the same time! Dual Boiler.

    The machine is perfect!

Every night I go to bed looking forward to my morning Espresso. It is that good.

I spent a lot of time researching espresso machines before settling on this. It isn’t necessarily the sexiest machine out there, but I can hardly complain about the quality of the espresso it produces. I use it with a Sette 270 and frequently steam milk while pulling a shot. The water tank set up could be easier to maneuver, but it is a small nit pick relatively speaking. I wish the steaming knob was not plastic as well, but what can you do. I use this at least twice a day, and do monthly cleanings. I also have an acaia scale that i use both for measuring espresso, as well as pulling the shot. Super handy and more useful than a 270W, in my opinion.

If you want a dual boiler machine, there aren’t many options available at this price point. The Elizabeth does what it needs to do without a fuss.

    Pros:
    – The PID system works great and is very easy to use. It gives you all the customization you want while also allowing one touch operation.
    – The stainless steel body means you don’t have to wipe it down after every use to remove fingerprints.

    Cons:
    – I wish the low water level indicator was higher. I’ve had one or two shots stopped mid-pull because the low water indicator came on.
    – The portafilter spout is takes up a lot of space and prevents you from tamping on the edge of the counter. Luckily, it’s removable so you don’t have to use the spout if you don’t want to.
    – No automatic on feature so that the machine is warmed up when you wake up. Again, easily fixable with a plug-in timer from Amazon.

There’s not much to say. It’s an espresso machine and it does what it’s supposed to do. Outside of the water level indicator, I have zero real complaints.

After doing a lot of research on upgrades for my Gaggia, I landed on the Lelit Elizabeth V2. PID and Dual Boiler in one package, while still coming in almost 500$ any of the competition, with an amazing build quality. I have owned this machine for 6 months with zero issues, pulling perfect shots every time.

Highly recommend both the Lelit Elizabeth and 1st Line Equipment.

Love this machine. I did extensive research and although this was originally out of my price range, I really wanted a double boiler. From the research I did, this machine was the best bang for your buck. I don’t have anything to compare this to since it’s my first machine so my review may be biased. I have had this for a year now and the only issue I have had is the on/off switch broke. I had to buy a replacement switch but it was $5 and super easy to install. The shot counter says I have made over 2k shots but I often run the grouphead for cleaning so I don’t know how many shots I have actually made vs how many times I just run water through it. I’m looking to upgrade soon to a La Marzocco, but anyone looking for a excellent double boiler at the low end of the price scale should definitely consider this machine.

I’ve had the Elizabeth for about 4 months now and I’m very happy with it. Here are some of my pros and cons:

    Pros:
-Warms up very fast. It’s usually ready in about 10min after power on.
-It’s consistent and I get repeatably great coffee.
-Has an automatic backflush mode, which motivates me to backflush regularly.

    Cons:
-The plastic portafilter handle and steam knob feel rather cheap. Luckily, the portafilter handle unscrews and I was able to replace it with a wooden one.

Where did you get the wooden handle from? Looks like a nice upgrade.

I upgraded to the Elizabeth from a cheap ($200) single boiler machine and it was a great investment. The Elizabeth may be somewhat barebones (especially when it comes to looks) but is a beast in terms of performance. The steam boiler in particular is very powerful; being able to steam several rounds of milk drinks without the machine breaking a sweat is a very handy feature for sharing with friends. The espresso boiler is smaller and unfortunately takes a little longer to get back up to temperature, but I am still satisfied with its performance.

I also wish the computer interface on the machine was a little better designed; I was able to pick it up quickly enough, but I imagine older users may struggle a bit with the controls. That being said, once you get the hang of them it is easy to change preinfusion, boiler temperature, and shot length settings, and also to turn off the steam boiler when you just want the machine to heat up quickly for espresso.

Although I have a few nitpicks about the design of the Elizabeth, I am still very happy I selected it. It was somewhat cheaper when I purchased it, but the longer warranty now offered is a good tradeoff, since espresso parts aren’t cheap and the machine is still fairly new to the market. As far as value for money, I think it is one of if not the best machine on the market for those who want a solidly built double-boiler that doesn’t break the bank (at least, not too much). It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that some people love, but I can’t see myself upgrading as long as it’s able to make a good espresso/cappuccino.

My current setup (apologies for the messiness):

We purchased the Lelit Elizabeth back in July 2010 and we have been very happy with both the espresso and cappuccino.
I would give it 4 stars except for the issue below:

We have a Niche Zero grinder and the pair is fantastic.

    Pro:
    – The boiler heats up quickly and it’s easy to use and maintain
    – the menu is easy to use and pre-sets are time saving
    – pre-infusion works well (see below)

    Con:
-filling the reservoir is inconvenient (most machines fill in the back)
    – our steam knob froze 2 days ago; we can still make espresso, but no pre-infusion (editor’s add: The knob should not be overtigthened in the closed or opened position. Pull knob outwards and use a small crescent wrench to unwind and put knob back on)

I purchased the Lelit Elizabeth PL 92 about a month ago; I also coupled my purchase with the Lelit William PL 72 Grinder. I must say that I have enjoyed every shot of espresso from the combo purchase. I usually have 2 to 3 shots of espresso / cappuccino every morning. I have tried a variety of beans; and, the grinder set between “5 or 6” with a pre-infusion time of 8 seconds / total dosing time of 37 seconds has produced the best espresso for me. (The combo extraction has been running about 9-10 bars of pressure.)
I must also give credit for the excellent customer service from the folks at 1st – Line! I was not really sure what combo of machines to go with — , but I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase!!

I bought my Lelit PL92T Elizabeth V1 when it first arrived in the US in 12/2018 and I have been pretty happy with it. I had been waiting for a dual-boiler machine in a reasonable price range for a while. As soon as I saw Lindsay’s first impressions video back in 2018, I was hooked. I did a lot of research and decided to buy one as soon as it was available. I use mine with a Eureka Specialita grinder and it works great.

    Pros:
    Great consistency once dialed in
    Dual boiler
    Great steamer
    PID
    Pre-infusion with timer
    Infusion timer

    Cons
When steaming with the V1, you turn the knob counterclockwise. If you turn the knob all the way back for maximum steam power, the knob requires some effort to turn clockwise in order to turn off the steam. I’m just hoping that it does not break one day

The boilers take about 10 mins to warm up which took a little bit of getting use to, especially when I’m wanting to hurry out of the house in the morning. My old single boiler De’Longhi EC702 took about 3 mins to warm up. To mitigate this issue, I bought a wifi smart plug from Amazon and programmed on and off times for the espresso machine in the mornings.

The water tank is cumbersome to refill. I created a funnel with a 2 liter water bottle by cutting the bottle in half. This allows me to refill without having to take out the water tank.

After having a decent single boiler for ages, I bought this beautiful machine in 2018 and have been using it every day. Since working from home it has been pulling double duty as my morning espresso or cappuccino and my afternoon iced Americano maker. After playing with temp and time for a bit I have it dialed in and enjoy the ease.

I can pull a perfect espresso with a thick rich crema and make my wife a beautiful latte with silky foam.

This machine makes great espresso. Dual boilers are convenient and maintain consistent temperature and pressure during extraction. Water tank is a bit smaller if you make espresso/clean grouphead often. The filter inside the tank is nice and is rechargeable, however, it might be difficult to find a replacement.

Portafilter is heavy and is well constructed. It does not fit my coffee grinder’s portafilter holder due to its spouts, but I do not use it anyway.

I like the dual profile setup where you can set to the very details of how a shot will be extracted; specifically, you can set pre-infusion(in seconds) to let water settle inside a portafilter prior to exerting pressure to extract a shot. There is a difference in espresso taste when comparing between turning on/off pre-infusion; I have this option turned on for my daily brew. Of course, you can tune coffee boiler temperature and extraction time for each profile.

The Elizabeth V3 is a nice change from my 15 year old Spaziale Vivaldi. It’s really compact for such a powerful machine. It doesn’t overwhelm the kitchen and the stainless blends right in. Many settings are customizable. The espresso is delicious, so my wife’s Americanos are outstanding.

I was a rotary pump snob and would never have considered a vibe pump machine. But Lelit recently installed a much quieter pump in the new V3, I find the sound is not very noticeable or bothersome like it is on so many other machines.

Lelit’s preinfusion settings are really robust. You can use two different types; one with the steam boiler on (applies a gentle pressure the entire time) and one with the steam boiler off (omits the additional pressure during the pump off phase). If you set the 2 brew buttons to different preinfusion times, you effectively have 4 different preinfusion options ready to use. And it’s all customizable. Works great! The espresso is rich and delicious, with no channeling and no bitterness. This is difficult achieve on machines that have don’t have preinfusion at all – like my last one.

Negatives are minor. No built-in timer, but I use a Wemo smart plug and a surge protector. The portafilter handle could be heavier, but that’s just my preference.

Lelit continues to iterate and apply modern advancements and technology to their machines. The preinfusion options alone put this one head and shoulders above others in the price range. I’m totally satisfied with the Elizabeth. It’s a great value and even comes with a 3 year warranty!

Ordering from 1st Line was simple and the machine arrived intact, even after a big snowstorm. Check outJim’s videos. He’s a trusted espresso expert whose blog posts and videos have helped me greatly over the years.

I love this machine. It’s my first and love both the ease of use and customization features. Java Jim was great. I originally purchased a machine from the sidewalk sale and was having trouble with it and Jim graciously let me return it and purchase this unit. I couldn’t be happier with both the equipment and the customer service. I’ll never buy from anywhere else.

I landed on this machine after significant research. I had gone through two Breville Dual Boiler machines and wanted something that was easier to service and more robust. I wanted the same convenience of a dual boiler and the ability to closely manage temperature. The Elizabeth meets all of these requirements at an unmatched price. I’ve fiddled with the machine some, reducing the pressure at the OPV, but none of that is necessary. It works well out of the box, and there are plenty of guides on the internet on tweaks if you are so inclined.

I purchased refurbished and have had no problems. Delivery was prompt, the product looked new, and luckily I haven’t had to test post-shipping service.
